Waitrose employs just under 400 Partners, as all Waitrose employees are known, across its three branches in Jersey: Red Houses, St Saviour and St Helier.
As part of the John Lewis Partnership, Waitrose is owned by its employees who each receive an annual share in profits. Every Partner shares the responsibilities and rewards in the running of the business.
Waitrose boasts excellent relationships with its local suppliers in Jersey, meeting with farmers to discuss the products, packaging and specifications with a view to always improve local produce in the Waitrose offering.
Every month each Waitrose shop donates £1000 to three local good causes. Customers vote for the share each charity receives using green tokens.
Building on Community Matters donations, Waitrose in 2012 launched Partner Volunteering, which means that customers and ‘good causes’ can pop in to their local Waitrose and request either monetary support and/or volunteering help.
